2004 Survey of Indiana School Library Media Programs-A collaborative project
between the Association for Indiana Media Educators & Indiana University - Indianapolis, School of Library and Information Science at http://www.ilfonline.org/Units/Associations/aime/Data/index.htm - A key finding is the positive relationship between a strong library media program staffed by a full time professional library media specialist and improved ISTEP scores. 2004 Trend Analysis of Indiana K-12 Library Services at http://newsinfo.iu.edu/news/page/normal/1682.html. The report by the Center for Evaluation and Education Policy at Indiana University Bloomington suggests that "despite the state's considerable financial challenges, the role of library materials should be considered in any comprehensive plan to increase the literacy of Indiana students."
